The Hugely-Wugely Spider by Ethan T. Berlin

A fun spin on a classic children's song, this book is entertaining for all ages.  Hugely-Wugely spider watches the itsy-bitsy spiders climb up the water spout day after day to a spider wonderland with plenty of bugs, comfortable webs, and snuggly leg warmers to keep all eight legs cozy.  The other spiders have suggested that Hugely-Wugely might be too large to climb the spout.  After an unsuccessful attempt that required the help of the other spiders, Hugely Wugely gets the opportunity to return that kindness. 

Told from the Hugely-Wugely spider's point-of-view, this funny story will have your students rolling with laughter.  Readers will be amused by this silly story that blends the "Itsy-bitsy Spider" with funny shenanigans that give the song a fresh backstory.  The end of the book reveals an unexpected act of kindness that the reader finds sweet and entertaining.

The text is easy to follow and includes vocabulary words such as "implied", "accessories", "adorable", and "retaining".  The illustrations masterfully depict the story with hilarious facial expressions that help the reader understand the personality of the characters.
